All codes above refer to the same curve family — just named differently by each manufacturer.
The P30 is a heel curve with a closed face — one of the few closed-face curves still in widespread use. The closed face combined with a heel contact point is particularly effective for backhand passes and for players who shoot with a low sweeping motion. Joe Sakic's legendary backhand was enabled by this kind of blade geometry. The high lie and heel contact also makes this excellent for slap shots where you want pinpoint placement over raw velocity.
Players with a strong backhand who want to use it as a weapon. Also excellent for defensemen who like a closed-face slap shot for accuracy over power. Less common in modern hockey but extremely effective for players who master it — particularly face-off specialists and defensive-zone quarterbacks.
