All codes above refer to the same curve family — just named differently by each manufacturer.
The P02 is the quintessential defenseman's curve. The heel contact point and high lie number keep the blade upright for players who shoot from a standing position at the blue line. The slight curve and neutral face give it exceptional accuracy on long slapshots and one-timers — you can pinpoint the corner from 60 feet. Nicklas Lidstrom built his legendary shot partly around this pattern, and it remains the default choice for point shooters.
Defensemen who shoot from the point. The heel curve maximises slap shot power and control. Higher lie number suits players who carry the puck further from their body and shoot with a sweeping motion. Not ideal for forwards who need quick-release wrist shots or aggressive stickhandling.
